Project Summary
Morgan was engaged to remediate the Pinto Creek Diversion Channel at a major copper mine in Arizona. The project involved removing existing slope armoring and constructing new soil cement armoring to enhance channel stability and environmental protection.
Throughout the project, the team developed and implemented highwall slope safety protection measures, salvaged excavated alluvium and underliner to reduce aggregate purchase costs, and identified design constraints to deliver constructible, cost-effective solutions. Work was executed within an active US waterway, with all environmental standards met or exceeded.








Project Scope
Demolition and hauling of articulating concrete blocks, geosynthetics, soil cement, and underliner (60,000 CY).
Installation of channel drain (8,600 LFT).
Crushing, screening, and mixing aggregates (270,000 TN).
Soil cement mixing and placement (70,000 CY).
Shotcrete and grout application (500 CY).
Construction of 13 grade control structures.
Air quality and SWPPP permitting and management.
